Subjects in detail

What your child will actually work on.

Every student gets a plan built around their syllabus, their exam dates and the topics costing them the most marks. Here’s what that usually looks like, subject by subject.

Maths

KS1KS2KS3GCSEA-Level

Maths is where confidence breaks down most often, because one missed foundation knocks over everything built on top of it. We find the gap, fix it properly and then build up to the multi-step problems that separate the top grades.

What we cover

  • Number, arithmetic and mental maths foundations
  • Algebra, equations and graphs
  • Geometry, measures and trigonometry
  • Ratio, proportion and rates of change
  • Probability and statistics
  • Multi-step and problem-solving questions

How we teach it

  • Logic first: understand why a method works, not just the steps
  • Worked examples, then independent practice
  • Past papers under timed conditions
  • Answers marked against the mark scheme, with every lost mark explained
Taught by Muhammad Ahmed (9 at GCSE, A-Level Maths) and Nabeel Esat Book a Maths consultation

Biology

KS3GCSEA-Level

Biology rewards students who can connect ideas and write precise answers. We teach the links between topics, so a question about exercise brings in the heart, respiration and cells without a second thought.

What we cover

  • Cells, organisation and transport
  • Human biology, the heart and physiology
  • Genetics, inheritance and evolution
  • Ecology and the environment
  • Required practicals
  • Six-mark and extended-response questions

How we teach it

  • Recall questions at the start of each lesson to lock in earlier topics
  • Topic links drawn out explicitly, not left to chance
  • Model answers compared line by line with the student’s own
  • Key command words: describe, explain, evaluate
Taught by Nabeel Esat (A-Level Biology, BSc Biochemistry) and Muhammad Ahmed (9 at GCSE) Book a Biology consultation

Chemistry

KS3GCSEA-Level

Chemistry mixes abstract ideas with Maths, and students often struggle with one half or the other. We make the particle-level picture click, then practise the calculations until they feel routine.

What we cover

  • Atomic structure and the periodic table
  • Bonding, structure and properties
  • Quantitative chemistry and moles
  • Rates, energy changes and equilibrium
  • Organic chemistry
  • Required practicals

How we teach it

  • Concepts explained visually before any equations
  • A step-by-step routine for every calculation type
  • Exam questions sorted by topic, then mixed
  • Common errors flagged before they cost marks
Taught by Nabeel Esat (A-Level Chemistry) and Muhammad Ahmed (9 at GCSE) Book a Chemistry consultation

Physics

KS3GCSE

Physics is where Maths and Science meet. Students who understand the ideas often lose marks on the equations. We tackle both at once, so the physics makes sense and the numbers come out right.

What we cover

  • Forces, motion and momentum
  • Energy and power
  • Electricity and circuits
  • Waves, light and sound
  • Particles, atoms and radiation
  • Equations, units and rearranging

How we teach it

  • Real-world examples before formulas
  • An equation toolkit the student actually remembers
  • Graph and data questions practised deliberately
  • Required practicals explained step by step
Taught by Nabeel Esat and Muhammad Ahmed (9 at GCSE Physics) Book a Physics consultation

Computer Science

GCSEA-Level

Nabeel started A-Level Computer Science with no programming experience and finished with an A. He knows exactly what it feels like to begin from zero, and how to get from there to confident, exam-ready code.

What we cover

  • Programming fundamentals
  • Algorithms, pseudocode and flowcharts
  • Data representation and binary
  • Computer systems, hardware and networks
  • Code tracing and debugging
  • Exam theory questions

How we teach it

  • Writing real code together, live in the lesson
  • Small problems first, then bigger programs
  • Trace tables and dry runs until they’re second nature
  • Theory tied back to how computers actually work
Taught by Nabeel Esat (A-Level Computer Science, university programming modules) Book a Computer Science consultation

English & Languages

KS3GCSEA-Level

Alongside our STEM subjects, we offer support in English and languages, taught with the same exam-first approach. Tell us the language, level and exam board on your free call and we’ll build the plan around it.

What we help with

  • Understanding and answering exam questions
  • Structuring written answers
  • Building vocabulary and accuracy
  • Revision planning before exams

How we teach it

  • A plan matched to the student’s exam board
  • Practice against real mark schemes
  • Clear, specific feedback on written work

Our approach

The method behind every lesson.

Whatever the subject, three frameworks shape how we plan, teach and review.

Framework 01

The A* Blueprint

A personalised Study Smart System that fits around the student’s schedule. It makes the most of the time they have and drills the high-impact exam techniques behind top results.

Framework 02

Comprehension to Mastery

Revision techniques that actually work. Our logic-first approach builds deep understanding so students can apply knowledge confidently, rather than relying on memorisation alone.

Framework 03

The Confidence Framework

Solid foundations at any level, then steady progress, with the goal of turning the student’s weakest subject into one of their strongest.

Every lesson

What’s included, whatever the subject.

Live and one-to-one

Interactive online lessons with a single tutor, never a recorded video or a crowded class.

A personalised plan

Built on your free assessment call around the student’s goals, syllabus and exam dates.

Heavy exam focus

Past papers, mark schemes and exam technique from the start, not just in the final weeks.

Targeted feedback

We analyse real answers, find where marks slip away and show the student how to fix it.

Safe hands

Every tutor holds an enhanced DBS check and a Level 1 Safeguarding certificate.

SEND experience

Our tutors are experienced with SEND students and adapt the pace and style to suit.

I think the sessions are really helpful as you teach me the fundamentals of a topic before moving straight into the unit. It’s also really nice how you link multiple topics together.
